Andrew Bain

Andrew originally studied dentistry at Bristol University before embarking on a career first in musical theatre, and then in opera. He currently studies with Jennie Caron. 

Operatic roles include the  role of Joe in La Fancuilla del West and was a member of the ensemble in Bluebeard, Falstaff and L’elisir d’Amore (Grange Park Opera), Ferrando in Cosi fan Tutte (Opera by Definition), Pierre in The Wandering Scholar (St John Smith Square), Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus (Alternative Opera), Triquet in Eugene Onegin (Longborough Festival), MacHeath in Beggars Opera (Cochrane Theatre), Peasant Leader in Eugene Onegin (Opera by Definition) and, while studying at Bristol University, Don Jose in Carmen, Spalanzani in Tales of Hoffmann as well as Ralph and Fairfax in HMS Pinafore and Yeoman of the Guard.

As a musical theatre performer he most recently he played the role of Tony in West Side Story for Pimlico Opera in HMP Wandsworth. Other work includes Les Miserables, Whistle Down the Wind, Beauty and the Beast, City of Angels and Tonight. He has also recently premiered the English version of the new Norwegian one-man show musical Terje Vigen in San Francisco and on tour in Norway.

In 2008 Andrew signed a solo recording contract with SonyBMG and has recorded an album of “classical crossover”.

Andrew has experience of corporate and concert work all over the world. His versatility allows him to tailor a programme to the needs of most events.

Ben Thapa

Ben is an alumnus of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the Royal College of Music, London, and currently works with Adrian Thompson.  Ben's first professional break came as part of the classical crossover group G4, runners up on the first series of ITV's The X Factor.
 
Ben is rapidly gaining experience on the opera stage, credits include Corebo (La Didone, GSMD), Telemaco (Il ritorno d'Ulisse, GSMD), Jephthe (Jephthe, Ryedale Festival), Tamino (Magic Flute, Kennet Opera) and Mat of the Mint (Beggars Opera, Royal Opera).
 
On the concert stage, Ben has a wideranging repertory, including Bach Evangelists, through Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Rachmaninov, Vaughan Williams and Elgar.  He recently made his St. John's, Smith Square debut with the Exmoor Singers (Mozart Requiem), and his Cadogan Hall debut with Sonitus and the Orion Orchestra (Vaughan Williams Serenade to Music/Tippett Negro Spirituals).
 
Future plans include First Prisoner and cover Florestan (Fidelio) for Garsington Opera, and Kudrjas (Katya Kabanova) for Scottish Opera.  He is on the reserve list for this year's intake at the National Opera Studio.

Cameron Rolls

Born Cameron Rolls Tenor was born in Somerset and studied at the Trinity College of Music. He was a principal artist with Wuppertaler Bühnen and Koblenz from 1993 to 1999. A guest artist in Hannover, Oldenburg and Gelsenkirchen. Roles in Germany include Don José Carmen, Alfred Die Fledermaus, Camille Die Lustige Witwe, Tamino Die Zauberflöte, Ernesto Don Pasquale, Rodolfo La Bohème, Rinuccio Gianni Schicchi, Alfredo La Traviata, Paco La Vida Breve, Edgardo Lucia di Lammermoor, Pinkerton Madama Butterfly, Cavaradossi Tosca and Tony West Side Story.

He has performed The Seven Deadly Sins with the Wuppertaler Tanztheater Pina Bausch in Amsterdam.

Concert work includes The Verdi Requiem, Elgar The Kingdom, Handel Messiah, Mozart Die Krönungs-messe, Dvorak Requiem, and Saint-Saens Weihnachtsoratorium. For Diva Opera he has sung Don José, Nemorino L’elisir d’amore, Alfred, Cavaradossi, Alfredo, Basilio Le Nozze di Figaro, Tonio La Fille du Régiment, Duke Rigoletto, Rodolfo, Edgardo, Tamino and Rinuccio Gianni Schicchi.

He recently toured internationally with Opera Interludes singing Alfredo and Cavaradossi and sang Ernesto for Opera a la Carte in London. Forthcoming engagements include concert tours with Diva Opera and Opera Interludes and the role of Lensky Eugene Onegin for Haddo House Opera in Scotland.

Andrew Macnair

After successfully completing a doctorate in nuclear physics at the University of Kent at Canterbury, Andrew embarked upon a career in music. He subsequently spent a year on The Knack (a performance course run by ENO Baylis) and several years as a Gentleman in Ordinary at Her Majesty’s Chapel Royal, Hampton Court Palace.

He attended the Deller Academy of Early Music, a summer school based in the south of France, on several occasions and has returned to the country to sing the role of the Sailor (Dido and Aeneus) at the Artois Music Festival, Bethune, and to take the romantic lead in a Comedie Musical Franco-Brittanique for Channel Arts Link in Wimereux.

Opera credits include the roles of Drunken Guest in Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk for the Royal Opera, Don Basilio & Don Curzio in a national tour of The Marriage of Figaro for the London Opera Players, Bob Boles in Peter Grimes for Surrey Opera and Fenton in Falstaff for New Sussex Opera. Other appearances include the role of Ralph Rackstraw in HMS Pinafore for Opera Options, First Yeoman in The Yeomen of the Guard for the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company, Vistola Fiume in the UK premiere of Francesca Caccini’s La Liberazione di Ruggiero dal’Isola d’Alcina (the first opera to be written by a woman) for Arts Etc. and one of Raguel’s men in the world premiere of Jonathan Dove’s Tobias and the Angel for Almeida Opera. He has also sung the roles of Blind (Die Fledermaus), Charles Edward Stuart (Candide), Nathaniel (The Tales of Hoffman), 1st Priest & 1st Armoured Man and Parpignol.

Andrew was a regular member of the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company and performed in several productions at the Savoy Theatre in London's West End. He also took part in H.M.S. Pinafore at the Shubert Performing Arts Centre, New Haven, Connecticut and on the national tour. He has also worked for ENO’s Contemporary Opera Studio experimenting with and performing new pieces in collaboration with Muziektheater Transparant, Antwerp, and Tapestry New Opera Works, Toronto, and for ENO Baylis recording excerpts of Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice for an audio-visual educational project.

Over the last few years he has quite busy on the concert platform, the most of recent of which was a performance of Sullivan’s Cox and Box in the Crush Room at the Royal Opera House and one of Trial by Jury at Hever Castle for Opera Options. He also appeared as Admund (Die Hochzeit) and Erste Diener (Männerlist größer als Frauenlist) for ROH2 in a concert of “Wagner Rarities” in the Linbury Studio Theatre. His repertoire also includes Verdi’s Requiem, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Bruckner’s Te Deum, Mozart’s Vesperae solennes de confessore, Bach’s Magnificat and Handel’s Messiah.

Andrew is presently a member of the Royal Opera Chorus at The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. Although it is very much a full-time job he has also managed to become a founder member of Hous8, a vocal group from within the chorus and to cover a number of roles for the Royal Opera. These include Don Curzio, Count Lerma & Herald (Don Carlo), Master of Ceremonies (The Queen of Spades), Federico (Stiffelio), Borsa (Rigoletto), Second Nazarene (Salome), Pony Express Rider (La Fanciulla del West) and Parpignol.

Forthcoming work includes a performance of Haydn’s Mass in Time of War in Canterbury Cathedral.

Elliot Goldie

Born in Hawick, Scotland, he studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama on the undergraduate and opera courses. He was the winner of the inaugural Kathleen Ferrier Bursary Award in 1996. His operatic experience includes excerpts from Billy Budd, Don Giovanni, The Rape of Lucretia, Turandot, Eugene Onegin and Fidelio. He has also sung Tiberge (Le Portrait de Manon) Ramon (La Navarraise) and Bobil (The Snow Maiden) with the GSMD. He has appeared with the Scottish Opera Chorus in Macbeth, Le Roi Arthus, Il trovatore and Ines de Castro. His concert performances include Messiah, Elijah and Bach’s Christmas Oratorio. A member of the Royal Opera Chorus, he made his solo debut with the Royal Opera in 2001 as the Notary in La sonnambula and has also sung Young Man in La rondine, Gaston de Letorieres in La traviata, Villager in I Pagliacci with Placido Domingo and Capitano in Simon Boccanegra. He has also sung the role of Starbuck in the world premier performance of Call Me Ishmael by Gary Goldschneider in the Stadschouwberg Theatre in Amsterdam. Being from Scotland Elliot has sung at various functions including many Burns Suppers and St Andrews Night Concerts. He has also compered several Scottish Tattoos including one at the Royal Albert Hall. Elliot has sung at the Scottish Proms at Glamis Castle for the past two years in both Scottish and Opera evenings.
